Overview

O’Brien Tree Care, LLC is seeking experienced climbers. Looking for responsible, safe, and authentic individuals who love to climb and prune trees. Job Summary

Climbers perform a variety of tasks including groundwork, climbing, pruning, removals, training, driving, and dumping company vehicles. Climbers promote and encourage safety culture to help protect themselves, the team, and the public from harm.

  • Pruning & Removals – Prune and remove trees according to ANSI Standards. Knowledgeable in the techniques of selectively removing parts of trees and plans to foster growth, health, and regeneration.
  • Climbing – Plan and execute a climbing plan implementing high safety standards, sound tree risk assessment skills, equipment inspection skills. This includes proper use of knots, climbing techniques and procedures, and rigging skills.
  • Chainsaw – Operate mechanical chainsaw powered by battery or gasoline.
  • Plant species – Knowledge of the variety of plants, trees and shrubs, and their special characteristics.
  • Human factors regarding safety – The considerations and implications for human safety.
  • Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Complex Problem Solving – Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Communication – Exchanging and conveying information, ideas, concepts, thoughts, and feelings through the use of a shared system of words, signs, and symbols.
  • Professionalism – Intrinsic knowledge of the difference between right and wrong, shows the courage to act upon that knowledge and embody the following ethical characteristics: Respect for self, others, and the environment. Empathy. Integrity.
  • Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others.

Tasks

  • Operate chipping equipment and feed limbs and brush them into the machines.
  • Operate chip trucks, loaders, stump grinders, brush chippers and other equipment and tools.
  • Clean, sharpen, and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Supervise others engaged in tree work and assist with training climber trainees and apprentices.
  • Complete job site safety analysis for every work order and job site.
  • Utilize a green weight chart to accurately rig and load wood.
  • Prune and remove trees in accordance with company and ANSI standards
